In the crowded lanes of Patna, Bihar, rose a man whose mission was not to build wealth, but to build dreams. That man is Anand Kumar, the visionary mathematician, teacher, and social reformer who founded the Super 30 program — a bold initiative that prepares underprivileged students for the prestigious IIT-JEE exams.

This is not just a story of teaching.

Post midle

This is a story of fighting poverty, beating the odds, and transforming lives — one equation at a time.

🌱 Humble Beginnings

Anand Kumar was born on 1st January 1973, in a lower-middle-class family in Patna, Bihar. His father was a postal clerk who struggled to make ends meet but believed strongly in education.

Though Anand studied in a Hindi-medium government school, his interest in mathematics was unmatched. He devoured foreign journals and papers — often traveling to Banaras (now Varanasi) because Patna University’s library didn’t have them.

He cracked his way into Cambridge University — a dream for any mathematician — but was forced to decline the offer due to financial constraints. His father’s sudden death and lack of sponsors left him with no funds to travel abroad.

📖 The Turning Point

Instead of breaking down, Anand turned his despair into determination.

To support his family, he started teaching mathematics and even sold papads (crispy Indian snacks) on the streets with his mother.

In 1992, he founded the Ramanujan School of Mathematics with just ₹500. Soon, it became popular among poor students for its quality coaching at a minimal fee.

🚀 Birth of Super 30 (2002)

In 2002, Anand Kumar launched Super 30, a revolutionary initiative to train 30 meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds for the IIT-JEE (Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam) — for free.

✔️ He provided free food, accommodation, and intense coaching.

✔️ The only eligibility? Poverty and potential.

The results were extraordinary.

📈 In the early years, 18–26 students cleared the IIT entrance.

📈 Later, all 30 out of 30 students cleared it several times — a feat that drew global admiration.

🎬 Biopic: Super 30

In 2019, Bollywood honored his life with the film “Super 30”, starring Hrithik Roshan.

The film depicted his struggles and victories, bringing his journey to millions of hearts across the globe.

💬 Philosophy

Anand Kumar believes:

“Education is the most powerful weapon to fight poverty.”

He never accepted government aid or private sponsorship for Super 30, maintaining its independence and honesty.

He sustains the program using proceeds from his Ramanujan School and donations from students who succeed.

🧭 Legacy

Anand Kumar didn’t build an empire.

He built a movement.

In a country where inequality in education runs deep, Anand’s mission is a beacon of hope.

•Over 500+ students from poor backgrounds have cracked IITs through Super 30.

•His model is now being replicated in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and UP.

🙏 Final Word

Anand Kumar is not just a teacher.

He’s an idea — that poverty should never be a barrier to brilliance.

He is proof that one chalk, one board, and one determined heart can change the destiny of generations.
